LSH 2903 Students: final 3 weeks ahead

LSH 2903 Students:

We will meet again on 22^nd Nov. to finish the final two assignments for Community Service (besides your volunteer blogs): the final presentations +  final reflection in class on 7th Dec.    

Yes we have class the next three weeks, because there is much to discuss and finish up..

ALL Volunteer Log posts are due by 22 Nov. 9am.. I will continue looking/ pre-marking the blogs this week, with final marks after 22/11.  

More details will be discussed next Sunday; be on time and see you then..

Final Assignments #2903:

1. Volunteer Blogs:  all info due 22^nd Nov. – 10am.

2. Volunteer Presentations: between 29-30^th Nov.   in class 

    Schedule today in class for groups! See attached list…

3. Self- reflection: AFTER the last presentation on 6-7^th Dec. in class!, to be posted on your blog after completing in class..

Starting CGC classes again on Sunday, 22nd Nov.

Community Service students – 

I have had a chance to visit most of the groups to see you in action – and I am pleased that you are having such good and rewarding volunteer experiences. I will continue to visit the different groups and organizations through next week (8^th Nov.). You can use the week of 15th Nov. to make up any hours you need to (all are required to do 20+ hours).

 I have asked the groups to continue your volunteer times through the 5^th week (8^th Nov.) as this will give you a chance to really connect with the students you are working with, and you with them. I am also checking the daily/ weekly blog posts to see your progress. Remember, the posts must be done after EVERY session, and will be graded as such.

Also, remember to add one Video- documenting your experience + plus one survey/ question interview with anyone you choose. Yes, the surveys can be done in Arabic, just translate and post the transcript with the survey post.     

We will resume classes again on Sunday, 22 Nov. and finish with all the sections the week of 6^{th +} 7th Dec. All volunteer logs blog posts must be posted by 22^nd Nov. 10am. That will be the first day back, and all log posts are due on that day. We will discuss the final exercises and assignments on 22/11.

Final volunteer visits AND start up date

Community Service students:

I’ve been around to see most of you, but still need to see a few stragglers. I’ll be back around again in the next 1-2 weeks, so make sure you are where you are supposed to be for me to confirm your service.

2. Make sure that you are doing your DAILY blog posts/ each day you volunteer.. Which can be later edited, because I do check the dates as they correspond to the days you are volunteering.. You can go back later and then add items, like a survey video OR link plus transcript if the interview is in Arabic.  Also, make sure that you add a video of some aspect of your volunteer experience..

3. We will be starting classes again on 22nd November; this is the last day for updating your blog posts!. Be there or be marked absent on 22/11 We will discuss the blog posts, and your final presentations as a group but graded individually, plus your final reflection done in class..

4. Enjoy your volunteer experiences, and see you again as volunteers AND then again on 22 Nov..

Final requirements/ exercises before your Volunteer Projects

Final requirements/ exercises before your Volunteer Projects:  

(starting from 11 Oct – to 21 Nov. Classes resume 22 Nov. for the final exercises and presentations)

1.    Volunteer Plans (final version) – due with your schedule latest Thursday, 8^th Oct. 
     Also, Post your Plan to your blog!!

     No plan = No project  

2.    Volunteer Blogs – are due on a Daily Basis during your volunteer projects (the dates are  automatic) including: 

-       Photos; interesting information; clips from the Inter-net

-       Plus 1 video (be creative)

-       Plus 1 Interview (choose someone from your volunteer organization to interview)

3.    After 22 Nov. we will have two weeks to complete the course including:

-       Final presentation (based on your project) as a group

-       A final reflection written class on your complete volunteer experience..      

 Remember, everything that you put into your Volunteer Projects will be returned to you in some form in the future..
